M
icrosclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat spider veins on the legs. It involves injecting a special solution directly into the affected veins, which causes them to collapse and fade over time. The solution irritates the lining of the veins, causing them to stick together and seal shut. Blood is then rerouted through healthy veins, improving circulation and reducing the appearance of spider veins.
How is the treatment performed?
During microsclerotherapy for spider veins, we will inject a solution directly into the affected veins using a small needle. The solution causes the spider vein walls to become irritated, which in turn causes the veins to collapse and fade from view. Over time, the body naturally absorbs the treated veins, and they disappear.
The procedure is relatively quick and can be completed in as little as 30 minutes, depending on the number of spider veins being treated.
Some patients may see a significant improvement after just one treatment, while others may require multiple treatments over several weeks or months to achieve the desired outcome.
Most patients can resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure.
